Volunteer

“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart” – Elizabeth Andrew

Some opportunities are limited due to pandemic restrictions.

There are many ways in which your time and talents may be put to good use at Arbutus Park Retirement Community.

You don’t need to be in an organization to volunteer at Arbutus Park. Individual volunteers are appreciated throughout our campus.

Business Office – Volunteers deliver the mail Monday through Friday for the Business office, and the Pathways monthly newsletter. Volunteers may also be asked to take a stroll around campus with Sassy, our therapy dog.

Activities Department – Enjoy a few hours each week playing games, building puzzles, and doing crafts with our residents. Do you have a special talent you would like to share? Volunteers teach arts & crafts as well as quilting classes. You may also be asked to assist in transporting our residents from their rooms to scheduled activities.

Are you a student who needs Community Volunteer Hours? Consider spending a few hours a week assisting the Activities Department. You will earn volunteer credits, but more importantly, you will have the opportunity to make lasting friendships with our treasured senior residents.

Gift Shop – Located in our manor lobby, the gift shop offers a variety of small gifts, greeting cards, snacks and drinks for our residents, staff, and visitors. If you are interested in assisting shoppers, stocking shelves, and operating a cash register, this is a wonderful volunteer opportunity for you.

Beauty Shop – Our beauty shop is located on the second floor of Arbutus Park Manor. Our residents love the convenience of having their hair cut and styled without having to leave the building. We need volunteers to assist with hair washing and drying along with transporting our residents to and from the beauty shop. If you enjoy helping others look and feel their best, this is a great volunteer opportunity for you.

Faith Services – We welcome volunteer Pastors and speakers to conduct our chapel services and Bible study classes via our Chaplain.

Board of Directors–The Arbutus Park Board of Directors is a volunteer organization made up of community business leaders and residents. Board member responsibilities include Leadership, Governance & Oversight, and Fundraising for Arbutus Park Retirement Community. Board members are asked to attend and participate in scheduled Board of Director meetings.

Auxiliary – This energetic, creative group fundraise and volunteer for events and activities that benefit the Arbutus Park Manor residents (Personal Care, Skilled Nursing, & Memory Care residents). The Auxiliary hosts events including Flea Markets, bake sales, and their signature event “Home for the Holidays.”

Arbutus Ambassadors– We believe our residents are our greatest assets. This belief is the inspiration for the Arbutus Park Ambassadors. This spirited, active group of Arbutus Park residents represent our community at various events and expos in the area. They assist at Arbutus Park campus events, and help out with scheduled campus tours. We love when our Ambassadors have an opportunity to meet folks interested in calling Arbutus Park their new home. Think of this organization as the official Arbutus Park “Welcome Committee.”
