Dear Family and Friends of APRC,

During the past week, Arbutus Park continued to conduct COVID-19 testing on nursing/personal care residents and manor employees. As of Friday, January 22nd, the test results for that week period showed 1 new positive case of COVID in residents and 1 positive test for staff members.

We had no new deaths in residents who had COVID documented as their secondary cause of death during that period. Although we may have a long road ahead, these numbers are very encouraging.

Since our first case of COVID-19, 74 residents of Arbutus have recovered from the virus.

At present, all non-positive manor residents are being tested for the coronavirus weekly. All non-positive employees up to this point are being tested twice a week. Immediate rapid tests are also run on anyone who is showing potential COVID-19 symptoms. This will continue until directed otherwise by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. All employees are wearing full protective equipment when providing direct care to residents.

VACCINES
We received and distributed our second dose of the vaccine this past Tuesday to both employees and residents. All but three of the residents received both vaccinations. Approximately 142 employees have been vaccinated. Though the vaccine is not mandatory, we encourage all employees and residents to consider getting this treatment to help build a
stronger immunity against the virus.

We want to give our sincerest appreciation to the wonderful family members who have been so understanding of what is being experienced at Arbutus Park. Their acceptance of the changes we’ve had to make to some of their loved one’s lives has been a blessing to us all. We are committed to continue our fight against this pandemic the best we are able and be completely forthcoming with information for our families.
